We have some new faces at Marx, and we're happy to introduce a staff member in each newsletter. This time, meet Rex! Rex Radloff, always eager to help you find your best shoe, is an engineering student at UMass Lowell. He's run for the cross-country team there for the past four years, with a favorite race distance of 5k. But if you ask his favorite training distance, it's 20 miles! When you meet him, you know he has the energy for that kind of running. Rex has a lot to share about his experiences at Lowell: We were even able to win the New England Championships twice, making us the only non-division 1 team to ever accomplish this goal. But the memories that I value most came from running with a group of guys everyday, knowing that we were all in this together. It's easy to complain about how stressful running is when everyone around isn't running, but when everyone around you is working just as hard that was never the case. So for 4 years there wasn't a complaint, and when it was cold, dark, wet, with snow on the ground, there still wasn't a complaint, and that is what I appreciate most for my time at Lowell. He loves the Brooks Adrenaline and uses the mantra from Bill Bowerman to get him through tough runs: "There is no such thing as bad weather, only soft people." Feel free to borrow the quote to get you through your winter training! And come say hi to Rex at the store! ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ |
